Ever since the army was established, disused material has been put aside to preserve it for posterity. Unfortunately, these collections were completely uncoordinated, with the result that certain material is available in many places, but others are missing.
Meanwhile, the collecting activity has been managed in order and also the care of the collections is regulated. We are standing in front of a huge amount of material from the past, and due to the strong changes in the army, there are still large quantities left. The first thing to do is to eliminate clearly visible excess inventories. In a second phase, the individual material categories are processed and inventoried. The aim is to store the material under the given circumstances as correctly as possible. The historical legacy of the Swiss Army should be made public in the form of a showcase.
